Gamer becoming a team player
The kid starts off playing a game and his grandfather playfully suggests moves. When in the thick of wanting to protect a village in a different realm he stops the other person who is ready to run head first in to fight and suggests waiting to see what they're up against. He uses some of his gamer knowledge and strategy to help them in their fight.
My 7 year old had fun helping me read some of it and I did have to Google how to say what the Phoenix is. 10 year old enjoyed listening and said he would listen to it again, might suggest it to a friend.

Exciting book for 6-7 year olds
My 6 year old enjoyed listening to me read this book to her. It was very action-packed! If you have a reader who loves playing video games this would interest them. I liked seeing some advanced vocabulary in the book: triumphantly, predecessors, transformed, interrupted, vanquished, etc. It does have the word "pathetic" in it, the word "butt" in it twice, and the Dragon King says, "I will have to kill you myself," so some adults might want to know that ahead of time. Overall, I enjoyed reading the book to my daughter and we would recommend it to other 1st and 2nd graders.
